Suzuki has a recall out on 6,928 motorcycles because of a fuel pump O-ring that have been twisted during installation, and therefore is causing fuel leaks on three motorcycle models from the Japanese brand. The affected bikes include the Suzuki GSX-R1000 family (2017), the Suzuki V-Strom 650 family (2017-2018), and the Suzuki GSX-S750 (2018).
The problem was originally spotted on the V-Strom 650, by Suzuki’s Japanese distributor. In the process of this recall, Suzuki has had to change its testing methods for fuel tank leaks in order to accurately diagnose the issue – extending the amount of time it pressurises the fuel tank with air, in order to show leakage.
Suzuki have also changed the tightening procedure it uses for attaching the fuel pump to the fuel tanks because of this recall, as well as the O-ring shape for these affected models.
With a growing numbers of cases where V-Strom 650 bikes resulted in having the fuel leak, Suzuki decided to recall that machine along with the GSX-R1000 and GSX-S750, since they use the same fuel pump / O-ring assembly.
To remedy the situation, Suzuki will notify owners of these affected motorcycles, and Suzuki dealers will replace the fuel pump O-ring and the fuel tank inner vessel, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin in October 2018.
Suzuki have just launched the new Katana, based very closely on the existing GSX-S1000 with the same chassis, engine, exhaust, suspension and brakes.
Unfortunately its a bit heavier than the GSX-S1000 at 2015KG with a smaller fuel tank at 12L. It has a new dash and improved throttle control (but how is not yet clear).
In the pictures the code for the Katana seems to be GSX-S1000s/m and the colour code is YMD, Metallic Mystic Silver

Kantana, Suzuki GSX-S News, Suzuki have been leaking photos and videos of the new Suzuki Kantana to be launched at Intermot on 2nd October 2018.
So far it look like the Kantana will be based on GSX-S1000 running gear as the engine, exhaust, suspension ,brakes etc. look identical to the GSXS1000.
Is it in addition to the GSX-S1000 or to replace it? All rumours at the moment.
