GSXS PAIR valve removal

GSXS PAIR valve removal

The PAIR valve is an emissions device on Suzuki motorcycles.  It is designed to draw fresh air into the exhaust through the PAIR control solenoid valve and PAIR reed valves.  It’s function is to burn off excess fuel in the exhaust system.  This page describes GSXS PAIR Valve removal.

When using an aftermarket exhaust with less silencing the burning off of excess fuel can be heard as loud pops or bangs in the exhaust on the over run, removing the pair valve will eliminate this popping.  Furthermore if using an Autotune with a wideband O2 sensor such as Woolich racing Autotune, or Power Commander Autotune will give incorrect readings if the pair valve is not removed.

The best way to remove it is to remove the solenoid and associated piping.  Use block off plates in place of the reed valves and cap off the pipe on the air box, an alternative is to epoxy close the current plates.   In addition the solenoid needs to be replaced with an eliminator plug, or  the error can be turned off during  a re-flash of the ECU
