GSX-S 200/55 Rear Tyre

GSX-S 200/55 Rear tyre

I fitted a GSX-S 200/55 Rear tyre, a Pirelli Supercorsa SP2. Initially the bike came with a Dunlop D214 190/50 not the most confidence inspiring tyre around.  I then upgraded to a 190/55 Pirelli Rosso Corsa, this gave much better grip and also because of the profile change, much better turn in to the corner.

I then fitted a 200/55 Pirelli Supercorsa, this gave much better grip than before and also even quicker turn in.

The only downside of the GSX-S 200/55 Rear tyre is that it raises the gearing by 6 %, so  I changed the gearing as well.

The reasons larger tyres give more grip is that as the load goes up the coefficient of friction goes down.

The 200/55 is designed to fit a 6″ or 6.25″ rear rim, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 has a 6″ rear rim which means the 200/55 has fairly tall profile on this wheel helping tip in.

The Suzuki GSX-S750 has a 5.5″ rear rim so is best suited to a 180/55 rear tyre
